Once in a while, an audio interface test will fail, but if you just run it again, it will often pass.Īs an FYI, the Windows system is reporting 7ms, but Windows does not always report audio processing latency with highly reliable accuracy. If this happens to you, simply click the orange Resync button (pictured below with arrow) to make the JamKazam test run again.
Please note that if either the Latency or I/O scores under Test Results are displayed in dark red, this means a test has failed, and the orange Next button in the bottom right corner of the wizard will be disabled. The JamKazam app now re-tests your Scarlett 2i2 interface using the new settings you have applied, and your Test Results should now display in green, with a latency of about 7ms.
If it does not, then click the orange Resync button (pictured below with arrow) to force the latency test to re-run. You will likely see the JamKazam app latency test start running again automatically for 5 seconds. Next, please click to open the Frame Size list box (pictured below with arrow) and select the value "1". Now that you have set the lowest possible buffer size, click the "X" at the upper right corner of the Scarlett dialog box to close it (pictured below with arrow). Click the Buffer Size list box, and then select the value "16" for the buffer size (pictured below with arrow).

You now see the Focusrite dialog box that controls the Focusrite software driver and audio interface settings for your audio interface. To do this, click the orange ASIO Settings button (pictured below with arrow). Next we need to adjust the Focusrite software driver settings. I even tried replacing the hard drive with a faster drive. I didn't want to go that route since the DAW I use (Goldwave) doesn't support ASIO.īy the way, the computer I was using is a fairly new Dell with lots of processor power and memory. I just could never trust that I wasn't introducing artifacts in my recording due to DPC latency.įrom what I heard from Focusrite tech support, using an ASIO driver is probably much better. I finally gave away the Scarlett 2i2 and went with a dedicated recorder (Tascam DA-3000).

I could never really trust that I was getting glitch free recordings. I spent dozens of hours trying all of the possible solutions, and while I was able to get it to work sometimes, it was just too unstable. The Windows operating system is not a real time system, and an issue with DPC Latency (Google it for tons of good info) is always a possibility.
But in the end I gave up trying to make real time recordings over USB. The support at Focusrite was very helpful. I noticed tiny dropouts in my needledrops. I went through latency problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.
